BXM Expeditions provides cost-effective, ethical expeditions for all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
As one of the UK’s largest approved activity providers, we’ve revolutionised expedition planning with our BXM Hub management system, making the process smooth and stress-free for schools. Safety is our priority. We have held our AALA licence for 15 years and are a risk-averse company with an impeccable safety and rebooking record. Participants walk with our qualified instructors on the first day of training, helping them gain confidence.
DofE managers, parents and young people can trust that safety, enjoyment and wellbeing are always our top priorities.We work closely with DofE managers to design bespoke, sustainable programmes for every school and young person.
Bronze 5 day package
- (£175 for a 4 day package)
- 1 day training and route planning on school grounds.
- 2 day training expedition. The first day is a combined training/expedition day ensuring groups are ready to be remotely supervised and can camp safely.
- 2 day assessment with assessors.
Silver 7 day package
- (£235 for a 6-day Silver Package)
- 1 day training and route planning on school grounds.
- 3 day practice expedition. The first day is training ensuring groups have all the appropriate skills and cover the DofE framework.
- 3 day assessment with assessors.
Gold 10 day package
- (£215 for a 5-day Expedition)
- 5 day practice expedition. The first day is a combined training/expedition day ensuring groups are ready to be remotely supervised and can camp safely.

The BXM Warehouse Team opens, checks, dries, and repacks all tents after each use. The cost of using BXM tents, stoves, and gas is £10 per participant for Bronze and Silver packages, and £10 per participant for a Gold expedition (or £20 per participant for a full Gold Package).
For participants
DofE groups are 6 or 7 with the occasional group of 5 participants.
If you are unable to make your school’s expeditions, we offer open expeditions to give you the opportunity to complete your DofE expedition section. We have a range of dates and locations available.
BXM Urban DofE
As one of the largest outdoor providers in the UK, our ethos is to ensure that all children can access the outdoors. This is regardless of their background, geographical location, or financial situation. We also know how beneficial achieving a DofE award can be for young people.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, DofE introduced some changes which allow DofE awards to be run in urban areas. This has enabled our experienced and knowledgeable team to design a programme that can be offered to schools that wouldn’t normally run DofE due to their inner-city location or financial restraints for students.
As part of the BXM Urban DofE programme, we will be able to support schools and students like never before.
