The Venture Award
The Venture Award is a development award scheme for young people typically in Year 7 and Year 8 of secondary school. The Venture Award is an exciting, educational trip which enables young people to get outside of their comfort zone, protect the natural environment & work with their peers in a way they haven’t done so before.
Through completion of their Venture Award booklet, young people will complete an element of independent research to enhance the focus of their expedition event.
TVA Level one: £54pp
The Level One Venture Award carries a Mental Health and Wellbeing focus. Young people will complete a Being Active section and a learning something new as part of their booklet. This aims to enrich young people’s lives both inside and outside of school.
Being Active Section
Encouraging young people to be physically active and enjoy movement of all forms. Shouldn’t be restrictive, can be anything from going for a walk to playing a team sport. 45 minutes per week for 6 weeks.
Learning something new - Diet & Nutrition
Encouraging young people to think about how their diet and nutrition affects their everyday, short-term term and long-term health. Developing an understanding of where their food comes from and how this has an impact on the environment in which we live.
Participants will complete a one-day expedition (9:00 am–4:00 pm) based at a local campsite, encouraging a deeper connection with nature and a sense of community in the outdoors. There will be 3 Activities in the morning, followed by a navigation walk after lunch.
TVA Level two: £84pp
The Level Two Venture Award carries an Environmental focus. Young people will complete a learning something new as part of their booklet, coupled with their Adventure, participants will have a real understanding of the world in which we live and how best to look after it. Participants will complete a 2-day, fully self-sufficient expedition as part of the award
Learning something new – The Environment
Participants must complete an element of independent study to answer the questions on the 6 topics within their booklet. Each topic is centred around the environment and what we can do to help make things better.
Topics include:
1. The Ocean
2. Fast Fashion
3. Single-use plastic
4. Farming and agriculture
5. Non-renewable energy
6. Renewable energy

They will then embark on a two-day adventure, with an activity day on Day 1 and a day walk on Day 2. This experience will see young people journey through the local countryside on a purposeful and rewarding expedition. |
